Team Spirit!

Spirit of a Chid Foundation goes into GROWTH mode.

Tallahassee FL, October 2007 -

In our efforts for continued growth of our vision, the Spirit of a Child Foundation is pleased announce and welcome Brian M. Rowland, Esq. and David S. Lipten, Ph.D. to the team.

Mr. Brian M. Rowland, Esq.

Providing our legal representation, Mr. Rowland’s extensive experience will certainly help and watch over us as we focus aggressively on our future growth and potential. He received his law degree with honors from Florida Coastal School of Law where he was a member of Law Review and founded the Law and Technology Society. Mr. Rowland also studied European Union, Comparative and International Internet Law at the University of Vienna in Austria. Mr. Rowland holds two undergraduate degrees from Florida State University, in Mass Communications and in Business.

David S. Lipten, Ph.D.

Joining us as a grant writing consultant, Mr. Lipten will provide us with the necessary skills for prospect research, letters of inquiry and overall proposal writing. We feel his experience will lead us to new heights in our funding efforts, help us develop new partnerships and promote awareness of the foundation as we look ahead to yet another fulfilling year.

UrbanPromise student lands exclusive interview with Diane Sawyer!

Most second graders never get the opportunity to interview a celebrity with the status of a Diane Sawyer.  But this past Tuesday, seven year old Karim sat on the set of Good Morning America and peppered Ms. Sawyer with questions about her growing up, about what she learned making the ABC Special, “Waiting on the World to Change," her hopes for Camden and about what she thinks of UrbanPromise.  This is truly a unique, one-of-a-kind interview—an interview you do not want to miss.

Thursday, October 18th this exclusive interview will be shown at our Annual Banquet along with a “behind the scenes” look at the Extreme Makeover Project.  And, of course, the best of all, hear the inspirational testimonies from our youth.

Host an Extreme Makeover Party!

November 11th, 2007 ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition will air a two hour special on the building of a new home for Victor Marrero on the UrbanPromise Campus in East Camden.  Two of the Marrero boys attend the UrbanPromise Academy.

Across the country UrbanPromise friends and alumni will be hosting “Extreme Parties”—gatherings of people who will watch the program and introduce their friends to the ministry of UrbanPromise.
