SOAC' s Benefit Concert

SOAC's BENEFIT CONCERT WAS HUGE SUCCESS!

U.U.Metro Atlanta Church North hosted the Friends With You Band benefit concert, performing the timeless music of the legendary John Denver. The proceeds of this concert helped ensure that some participants attending Spirit of a Child's Parent-Child Project 2007 EARTHcamp were able to fully live the experience of our Foundation's mission; which is to strengthen the bonds between parents and their children.

The band played to a PACKED audience filled with high energy! The guys in the Friends With You Band performed John’s music in the spirit of sharing John’s message. Each of the four musicians brought their own special gift of talent to the evening. Paul Swanton, the lead guitar player, was extremely talented and precise. Kevin Delmolino, an accomplished bass player and soaring harmony singer, who has performed professionally in both the rock and folk world was the anchor that kept the band tight. Mark Cormican sang lead and harmony and played a variety of percussion instruments. His live performance was accompanied by his engaging sense of humor. Chris Collins also sang lead and harmonies. He played guitar, banjo, and a few other instruments. Chris’s constant smile and gentle voice mesmerized the audience! When these guys were up on stage, the audience was overwhelmed with the incredible experience of talent and spirit! All the band members were sincere and engaging. Though John Denver is gone, his spirit of joy lived in every person who saw this performance by the Friends With You Band.

Holiday Coat Drive
Hope: Lost & Found

  Hope: Lost & Found Update

THOUSANDS of families in the Gulf Coast remain homeless and “temporarily” housed in tents and trailers while awaiting insurance claims to be answered and their homes and communities to be rebuilt. There is an immediate and desperate need for coats and winter clothing to help them bundle up and weather the winter season already upon them.

Waveland, Mississippi, was one of the hardest hit cities in the area leveled by a 37-foot wave surge generated by Hurricane Katrina. The Spirit of a Child Foundation is one of several non-profit organizations who have focused their relief efforts in Waveland, and while delivering basic necessities on Thanksgiving, were made aware of this imperative need.

Lakota Aid Project
Benefits Families on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation

Lakota Aid Fundraiser Spirit of a Child volunteer Bambi Roller of Wall, New Jersey along with some friends from the Joshua House and the Creed Angels, Inc., held a Lakota Aid project. This project raised monetary funds to transport a rental truck chock full of life saving supplies out to the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation located in Oglala, South Dakota. People from all over the Monmouth county, New Jersey area donated and successfully filled a 17-foot trailer truck. The truck transported supplies such as: winter clothes for all ages groups, baby furniture/cribs, school supplies, bedding, food and various other sundry items. The impact of this Lakota Aid project benefited countless families and children who live in indigence circumstances everyday. Each contribution to this worthwhile cause helped to create a miracle for these families in need before the harsh winter imbedded it’s deadly grip upon their land.

THANK YOU!
The Spirit of a Child Foundation would like to thank all who participated in this project for their kindness, generosity and support.
